Created on resilient shellac sized paper, the initial bones were done in white chalk, sepia light and sanguine oil pencil. To help make the figure pop while maintaining the base paper tone of the skin, a strong layer of white acrylic was laid and then the hair and shadows darkened in chinese black ink. A little gestural darkening and lightening in the foreground added some abstract interest and depth!
