Hiya guys!.. I'd say this one is one of my favs of the 1st weeks challenge that I did.. Using hog bristle brushes, rather than the synthetics used for the others, every brushstroke was deeply pronounced and I tried to take advantage of this by ensuring every stoke would speak to the underlying forms and be texturally appealing with sure gesture. The bleaching white light of the ref image, flattened the models face somewhat. Thus the challenge was to portray this washed out lighting while still bringing dimensionality to the portrait.. SOLD Ahh.. I forgot to varnish the portrait I did on day 3 so I decided to post this one first!.. This piece is about twice the size of the previous works and was painted using a zorn palette.. If you are not familiar with this uber limited palette, it's one that consists of just 4 'hues' - Titanium White, Ivory Black, Yellow Ocher and a red. I used Cadmium Red. Ref Photo Credit : Alev Takil on Unsplash This was just the perfect image for the muted tones of a zorn palette, and the subjects smoldering 'f*' all stare to the viewer.

SOLD Hi guys! This little gesture was done in three hues - Ivory Black, Burnt Umber and Burnt Sienna on a toned acrylic ground of Ultramarine + either Ivory Black or Raw Umber (I can't recall!)! I tried to apply each stroke deliberately and accurately, so as to ensure an expressive and confident piece, using the minimal amount of strokes to express the form..
The original is a small study ( There are a few WIP pics at 'Ivory Gesture' ) however the best thing about having a really high res great scanner is I can scan really high resolution images of small works like this and make them available as high quality giclees in quite large sizes (Saatchi have Ivory Gesture Prints at sizes up to 34 Inches ! ).. As long as the artwork fits my little over A4 size scanner (or can be scanned in parts, and combined), I can get really superior quality images for all my art prints !.. :D Anyways thanks for dropping by guys! Hope you all are keeping safe and your souls fulfilled !

'Binary Movement' Charcoal and Colour Pencil Drawing WIP' See ya! Thanks for the visit!.. :) Hi guys! So with a touch of trepidation I got back to this piece and I'm pretty happy it's turned out just as envisioned!.. The nature of this piece I feel lends itself to personal interpretation so I shy away from clarifying my own inspiration as I would like each observer to find meaning in it for themselves, independent of my own conceptual vision. Check out more detailed shots and info at 'Duality of Mind' or if you are interested in seeing a how this piece was created step by step, check out 'Duality of Mind' Pastel and Colour Pencil WIP'!!
Thanks for dropping by guys! :) Private Collection
