Influenced by the abstract minimalist compositions of traditional Japanese & Chinese ink paintings where blank spaces are an integral part of the composition, the abstract shapes and tones of the composition were my first consideration. Linear lines were kept simple, cross contouring the forms and textures of my subjects..
The rich copperish hue I could see in my minds eye,.. it had to be just right.. With a few sample tests, a strong mixture of raw umber & light red watercolour got the result desired.
Luckily I had first hand reference of the mangrove tree from a few life sketches I had done a few years back at Morib where their remains, like skeletons, haunt their salty waters.
Hi guys, this piece is finally being made available online.. Check it out!..
First in a series of travel pieces, I snapped the reference picture for this piece while traveling through one of the rural parts of India..
Thanks for the visit!.. :)
The concept of time & space has always fascinated me and so age old philosophies and scientific theories on the subject have been an almost constant reading companion and theme in my work for many years... Although many of my works have elements of this idea melded in with other varying contexts, this I feel is the first piece that is completely focused on the concept of time alone...
Hi there, I went a digging today among some of my old travel pics and found one I took of this world heritage treasure.. Like many, Egyptology has always intrigued me and painting the beauty of these historic monuments is completely captivating..
Medium: Watercolour on Watercolour Paper
Size: 3.5 x 2.5 Inches
This is actually my second attempt at this image, taking lessons learnt from the first to create this little watercolour.. :)
Thanks for the visit!.. :)
Just put up this piece on 'Daily Paintworks'!.. One of my rarer conceptual ACEO's, this particular piece was painted on copper mounted on primed linenboard.
'Timeless Chaos' ACEO

Deriving inspiration from philosophical & scientific theories of time and space, this piece seeks to render and merge both dynamical systems theory & relativity with zen philosophy...

Thanks for the Visit!.. :)
