Gustav Klimt's painting 'Death and Life' is quite typically Symbolist in both its content and form and here I attempt to bring the symbolism of the 'Life' group, of intertwined figures of infancy, youth, maturity and old age, celebrating life bound up in love ,.. a step further in its inclusiveness.
This more global representation slumbers in peace, content with love, unconcerned by any differences between races, creeds, genders or nations.
'Death' in Klimt's original painting has been deliberately omitted and the focus is placed on living in the present 'Now', in symbiosis & love as one family, unfettered by human constructs of the afterlife.
